Overview

11 school districts throughout Stark and Portage counties in Northeast Ohio, have collaborated to create an on-line learning option for their students based upon 40 courses that have been purchased from the award winning Florida Virtual School.  The 40 on-line courses offered by these schools include:
  • English I, II, III & IV, AP English Literature,
  • AP Calculus AB, Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus,
  • Earth Space Science, Biology, Chemistry, Marine Science, Physics, AP Biology
  • Global Studies, World History, American History, American Government, Economics
  • Latin I, II & III, Spanish I & II
  • Business Systems Technology, Computer Programming Basic I
  • Personal Fitness, Life Management Skills, Fitness Lifestyle Design
  • SAT Prep, Thinking and Learning Strategies, Art 2D
  • 8th Grade: Language Arts 3, Comprehensive Science 3, Mathematics 3, and US History
Students may enroll in these courses by contacting their school's administrator and meeting the qualifications set forth by their district.  On-line teachers are experienced educators from across the county who are selected because of their enthusiasm and knowledge of on-line learning, technology and strong communication skills.

Florida Virtual School
This is the official site of Florida Virtual School, the state financed on-line program for Florida, grades 6-12. This site has information relating to other available courses, course demonstrations, application information and resources for those interested in being on line learners. Ohio students can enroll directly in FLVS courses for a fee of $700 per course. Students in Stark and Portage counties can enroll in these courses trhough SPARCC supported schools for $200 per course per student and non-online learning consortium schools at $400 per course.
