Rapid Notification Committee

Rapid notification systems provide the capability of sending messages to large numbers of people in a short amount of time. This capability does exist with electronic mail; however, many schools would rather send voice messages. The ability to send many messages very quickly would be particularly useful on snow days, early dismissals and other such events. Some packages offer features beyond emergency notification including polling and tailored messages to groups of individuals.

A committee was formed in January 2008 to study the use of this products in school districts within the SPARCC consortium. After reviewing the products available from a number of vendors, the group selected AlertNow as its preferred package. Additional information is available on the vendor website. Questions about the product and its features may be directed to Ryan Nash.

Questions and comments about this initiative or the work of this committee should be directed to David Forman.
