About SPARCC

SPARCC is one of twenty-three Information Technology Centers (ITC) throughout the state of Ohio that provides data management services for members and affiliated school districts. It is part of the Ohio Educational Computer Network (OECN) and serves twenty-nine school districts, two county offices, some selected services for one independent site, parochial schools, community schools, public libraries, chartered non-public schools, and special interest groups. SPARCC's services include the following:

The above designated areas work together to offer a complete range of technology support services. A list of definitions and descriptions is provided to better understand the activities within the SPARCC operation.

SPARCC is governed by a board consisting of the superintendents of each of the member districts. This governing board has the responsibility to study, review and approve the SPARCC annual budget and ascertain that the costs are divided equally among the participating districts. Each member district has one vote which affords everyone equal share in the decision-making process.

An Executive Board, consisting of five members chosen from the Governing Board, meets regularly with the Directors to study, analyze, and approve recommendations. The Directors' roles are to oversee day-to-day operations of SPARCC and to communicate concerns and/or recommendations directly to the Executive Board. A primary focus of SPARCC is to offer quality service, training, and support at the lowest possible cost. This, combined with SPARCC's sound structure and governance, provides the framework for the smooth operation of the participating districts.
