SSID Search Procedures

SIDs were issued under two releases based on different mandatory requirements (4 Mandatory and 8 Mandatory). As a result SSID Users are experiencing difficulty in obtaining a matching SID record.

To provide the detailed matching logic used in both releases of the SSID Application would be complex and too detailed to explain. As an alternative to providing the detailed matching logic while still providing assistance in searching for an existing SID with greater probability, please use the following steps as a guideline for searching for SIDs through the ‘Modify an SID Screen’.

Start your search based on the Four Mandatory Attributes (Last Name, First Name, Gender, DoB)
If a one exact match is found, the record will be displayed.
If you get a message stating that potential matches exist, you must enter additional information to narrow down your search. Go to Step 2.
Add the Middle Name (or Asterisk - ‘*’ if the student does not have a legal name) to the attributes already entered on the screen. If you do not know the student’s Middle Name go to Step 3.

(OPTIONAL) Add the Student’s full 9 digit SSN or four digit SSN to the attributes already entered on the screen. If you do not know the student’s SSN or do not wish to provide the SSN, go to Step 7. NOTE – SSN can be added to the search at any point after the four mandatory attributes are entered.

Add the Mother’s Maiden Name to the attributes already entered on the screen. If you do not know the student’s Mother’s Maiden Name or do not wish to provide the Mother’s Maiden Name go to Step 8.

At this point you have entered all known student attributes. If you are unable to narrow down your search and a potential match still exists, contact IBM SSID Support. Please send an email to SSIDQuestions@us.ibm.com providing the Student Attributes entered on the ‘Modify an SID Screen.’ IBM will work with you to determine the issue and resolve any duplicate SIDs.
