Teachers have to select instructional materials for their students which help them to gain an understanding of the subject areas they are teaching. SPARCC maintains a very large library of instructional materials (both hardcopy and electronic) available for loan to teachers and students. These materials are catalogued and available for booking using the MEDIANET software which can be accessed from any Internet ready device. The software enables teachers to search by subject, grade level and academic content standard. In addition, a team of SPARCC employees are available to answer questions and help teachers obtain the resources they need. Once booked, the materials are delivered directly to the school building via courier.
The SPARCC Area Media Center is also known as the East Central Ohio Area Media Center and is one of 14 such sites located in Ohio. As a group, the Area Media Centers collaborate on common projects. These projects include the purchase of digital media such as Discovery Education and Learn360 which can be delivered electronically to students. This digital media supplements the instructional process providing the students a fresh and engaging look at their educational topics. The collaboration among the centers enables resources to be purchased at significant discounts providing more districts access to valuable instructional material.
